5 Steps To Rise When You’re Spiraling Down
The majority of us “know better” than to fall into negative pools and bouts of depression, but in reality sometimes we get hit by unforeseen circumstances and we can’t help but dive into muddy emotional waters; we’re Sensitives after all, we feel intensely. Things like crazy elections, natural disasters, family drama, work demands and general chaos start to come at us and slowly things start to falter. Our diets go bad, yoga and the gym are skipped, we aren’t social ( less than usual ), we just want to cuddle in blankets with our pets and escape in a book or maybe not even that and we want to sleep until it all goes away! Been there and it’s OK to be there for a little. Yet, we’re powerful beings and we can pick ourselves back up.
How can we rise above this when the entire world seems to be pushing us down? It’s called Strategic Emotional Transmutation.
1. If you’re a sensitive there’s no doubt that you’ve been here before. The last time you were falling, you got back out right? Let’s start off by remembering that you’ve been here before and you managed to go back to your sparkly self after some careful deliberation. It’s time to put your game face on – the same way you’ve done it in the past. You’re a sensitive. You’re a baddass survivor.
2. All the negative energy and anxiety floating around you has probably caused your mind to think negatively and start worrying. You start waking up with less and less purpose as the days go by so what you’re going to do (in this crucial time of drowning), is you’re going to write 3 things you’re grateful for THE SECOND you wake up for a week. By reminding yourself of the positive, you’ll transmute the negative.
3. Love beats Hate. Write a letter to someone you absolutely love. Imagine that you only have one opportunity to tell them how you feel. In this short letter explain how they’ve impacted your life and share how much you care about them and why.
4. Dance. You have all this energy that doesn’t belong to you stored in your body Miss and Mr energy sponge, so SHAKE IT OFF ( Yes, that’s an invitation to play Taylor Swift’s Shake it off song and dance like no one is watching ).
5. Call your uplifters. These are the people that make you feel happy and energized after being around them. Keep in mind that a candle does not lose intensity when lighting another candle, they will both shine bright. These uplifters will share their light with you, and in turn you’ll absorb their awesomeness so you can be awesome together.
This is all about flooding negativity with light. Transmuting the negative, the fear, the anxiety and the pain into love, kindness, child playfulness and shared joy.
